Pentane tank systems

Pentane tank systems

Pentane is used as a blowing agent and substitute for CFCs and HCFCs in polyurethane processing. Keil Anlagenbau engineers pentane tank systems for storage and the supply of your production. Against the background of requirements for water hazard prevention, explosion protection and the high vapor pressure of the medium, we offer a reliable and secure solution from tanker unloading to your production facilities.

Our Solutions - Your Advantage:

  • Decades of expertise
  • Proven plant concept
  • Turnkey solutions including mechanical and electrical implementation, including automation
  • Commissioning, training of the operating personnel and support during legal acceptance tests
  • Long operational lifetimes with high serviceability

Filling of the storage tank

The filling of the storage tank is done gravimetrically using the gas return method. The filling point can be located either in the dome shaft or at a remote station. For longer distances between the remote station and the tank, the filling process is supported by a pump. The transfer of the pentane from truck to tank is done without emitting exhaust to the environment using the gas return method. The rain runoff system we developed allows the truck unloading area to be sealed liquid-tight during the filling process. During the remaining period, surface water is drained off. By monitoring the filling process with an ANA safety device, the calculated containment volume of the tank site can be rapidly reduced.

Tank withdrawal and supply of production

The immersion pump for media withdrawal - either individually or as a redundant double pump system - offers leak-free operation due to its design and ensures maximum operational reliability with its excellent suction capacity. The pumps are equipped with all necessary measuring, protective and valve devices for safe operation and maintenance.

The pentane is transferred to the consumption units in a ring line operation. This ensures that the medium is temperature homogeneous, with consistent quality, and a constant regulated pressure is available at the consumption point. By using a heat exchanger in the ring line system, the absorption of ambient heat by the medium can be compensated. In this process, the system gets the necessary cooling energy from an internal cooling unit or from on-site supply systems.
