PUR Recycling Systems

PUR Recycling Systems from KEIL Anlagenbau modular - flexible – customised

The construction of industrial tank systems has been at the core of Keil Anlagenbau‘s business for decades. The safe storage of PUR raw materials, such as polyol and isocyanate, is just as much a focus for Keil Anlagenbau as the disposal of industrial production waste.

Therefore, it was only logical to start focusing on PUR recycling more than 25 years ago and to build the first plants.

As in our other fields of activity, we can draw on our experience in the engineering and construction of PUR recycling plants, allowing us to focus on further development.

Our Solutions – Your Advantage:

  • Customized Sizing
  • Process equipment is utilized efficiently
  • Energy-optimized use of process heat
  • Recipe-controlled automated operation
  • Modular and easily expandable
  • Compact design

Polyurethane recycling

Our chemical processes for recycling polyurethane waste can benefit you in several ways:

  • Reduction of disposal costs
  • Reduction of raw material costs
  • Increasing independence from polyol producers

Depending on the starting material, we can offer the optimal process in each case. For rigid foam, this is usually glycolysis, for flexible foam acidolysis. In addition, however, we can of course plan and implement systems for processes developed by the customer.

Glycolysis

In glycolysis, recycling is carried out using glycol and adding customizable catalysts. Glycolysis plants are often designed as multipurpose plants, so that in addition to the recycling of PUR and PIR rigid foam waste, the production of raw polyols based on PET or phthalic acid is also possible. In this way, the plants can also be used to capacity if there is not enough of their own waste available and can be used to secure the supply of raw polyol.

Acidolysis

In acidolysis, a number of other additives are used to convert the flexible foam waste into rPolyol. Even though the investment costs are somewhat higher here due to higher demands on the plant than with glycolysis, for example, the decentralised recycling of foam waste offers considerable advantages due to the otherwise complex and expensive logistics due to the low density. Acidolysis plants can also be designed as multi-purpose plants, so that glycolse can also be carried out in the same plant with little additional effort.
