Mega Trend Heat Pumps - Keil secures two orders to expand production capacities at the same time

In recent years, the demand for heat pumps as an alternative form of heating has been increasing strongly in Europe, especially in private households. It is expected that up to 5 million heat pumps will be installed annually in private households in the 2030s.

With the increase in demand for heat pumps, not only in private households but also in industry and the public sector, production capacity is also increasing to meet demand in Europe and worldwide. While only 3.7 million heat pumps were produced in Europe in 2009, 11.6 million units could be produced in 2019. This is an increase of 68 %, which is predicted to accelerate even further in the years to come.

Mega Trend - Heat pumps

One of the world's market leaders in heat pumps is also following this trend and expanding its production in Europe.

Keil Anlagenbau has been awarded the contract to expand the company's production at no less than two locations in Europe, in the Czech Republic and Germany.

In the Czech Republic, production is converted from an existing IBC storage system to a classic PU tank farm.

This will also improve the safety of production and take advantage of the savings through the purchase of larger quantities of raw materials. The aim is to increase the production volume from 150 units per day to 300 units in 2023 and 700 units in 2025. Keil is supplying a complete tank farm for polyol and isocyanate, including the relevant tank equipment and pumps, for the conversion and expansion of the existing production plant.

"Above all, the limited space in the existing production hall makes the planning and implementation of the tank farm a special challenge. The position and design of the plant must be planned and implemented in detail to ensure the integration of the new components into the old plant" remarks Vladimir Salac, Sales Manager at Keil Anlagenbau.

The company is also planning to build a new tank farm for production at its site in Germany. The production for the European and also the overseas market is taking place at this site. The capacity of the plant is to be increased fivefold in order to be able to meet the increasing market demand. Keil is supplying a complete tank farm for polyol and isocyanate, including the relevant tank equipment and pumps, for the expansion of production.

Initial production with the new tank farms is scheduled to start as early as mid-July 2023." Only through our reliable suppliers and the precise coordination of the trades can we promise the customer the start of production with the new tank farms as early as mid-2023. Particularly due to the supply bottlenecks, the narrow time window is the biggest challenge in this project," emphasises Jörg Hoffmeier, project manager at Keil Anlagenbau.

Both projects are currently being implemented as turnkey projects including control and visualisation, with the plant in the Czech Republic already being commissioned.
